Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

I live in Kansas but i want to move to Texas to live with my best friend and her mom. I'm 17 and you cant legally move out in Kansas at 17 but you can in Texas. Would it be legal for me to move to Texas from Kansas at 17 and could my parents be able to do anything?

States have compacts. Texas is bound to honor the finding of a Kansas Court. If a Kansas Court declares you to be a runaway in danger, Texas might have to honor the Kansas Request to rescue (apprehend) you, and return you to Kansas. At 17, you think you know almost everything there is to know. In fact between the ages of 14-19, your brain is making some of the same changes that it did when you were ten months old, Some of what you think is great today, will sound stupid to you in two years. Ask yourself, why you want to leave. If you feel your reasons are sound, then try to convince your parent(s) that it is the best thing for you. If you cannot, then it probably isn't in your best interest. Your parent(s) have known you your entire life, and they were 17 once. If you cannot convince them, it probably isn't a good choice ot run off to Texas.

If you can convince your parents that moving to Texas to live with your friend is okay, you won't have to worry about getting arrested.

Good luck
