Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

Motion To Reconsider

What exactly is a motion to reconsider? The judge made a decision against us, for child custody and he made his decision without knowing all the facts. Our lawyer is filing a motion to reconsider and I want to know how it works and what the chances of the judge reconsidering actually are?

Re: Motion To Reconsider

A Motion to reconsider essentially asks the Judge to reverse his or her decision. For such motions, no new evidence can be submitted and it is nbased entirely on the evidence presented at the previous hearing.

In general, such motions are unlikely to succeed, but may be a precurser to an appeal.
