I live in Kansas and the cosigner for the auto loan lives in Michigan and the dealership said the car has to be housed in the cosigners residence is this true

If the loan originated in Kansas, then the car does not have to be housed at the cosigners residence, as a matter of general law. If the purchase or finance contracts state that the vehicleis to be kept in a certain place, then that agreement may alter your legal obligation. If the sale or financing originated in Michigan, then you may need to consult an attorney licensed to practice in Michigan.
