Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kansas

Stock Owned by Deceased Mother

My dad and I recently found out that my mother (who died in 1991) held stock from a previous employer. She died without a will and nothing went through probate. We've been told by the company that we need proof of court-appointed executorship. If nothing went through probate, how do we get this type of document?

Re: Stock Owned by Deceased Mother

You need to do an action akin to a Determination of Heirship. This is to pass property that did not pass before the expiration for opening an estate.

Good Luck
