Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Kentucky

Back inFeb. 2000 I was Runinnig a small Trucking Business Was involved in a accident on a four wheeler in whitch my wife and i was badly injered and spent a lot of time in the hospital we both had loss of of memory,My wife had T.B.I. in whitch most end up in a nursing home,I wouldnt let that happen so i Gave up everything We had and filed Bankruptsy and cared for my wife untill she got back on her feet and retrained her memory,about 3 years,Now IRS says i owe them 60,000dollars back taxes and take my refunds every year and say i still owe them,The 60,000 is everything i made that year,What do i do to get this mater straightened out??

The answer to your question all depends on when the taxes are from. Taxes are not automatically dischargeable in bankruptcy and so your attorney would have had to file an adversarial proceeding to determine the dischargeability of those taxes. They may be dischargeable now depending on the circumstances that they arose from. You need to consult with a bankrutptcy attorney to determine the answer because so many other facts go into the answer.
