Legal Question in Business Law in Kentucky

Starting an Internet Business

I'm considering starting a website that will have content based on the game of poker and will allow players to communicate with others, are there any legal obligations I will need to start this website?

How much would it cost to have an attorney look over a website, and check for legal needs and obligations?

Re: Starting an Internet Business

There are many legal issues that could arise along with the development of an interactive Web site. You will need to consider things such ase formation of your internet business, privacy issues, intellectual property issues, and liability issues, to name a few.

It would be best for you to contact an attorney of your choice directly to ask these questions. An attorney will need much more information than you have provided before he or she can even touch on the issues you may face.

Attorneys fees vary from attorney to attorney. Typically, you will be required to provide an up-front retainer for services before an attorney will begin working for you. Be prepared to pay for the attorney's time spent meeting with you about your needs, as well as time he or she will subsequently spend working for your business. Many attorneys provide legal services agreements to clients that outline their fees and how payment must be made, whether as an up-front cost, or on a monthly basis.

Again, I highly recommend contacting an attorney directly before you begin this venture. Good luck!
