Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kentucky

Internet Stalking question

I am wondering if a person installs key logging software in someones computer without their knowledge(not a business) is it condsidered stalking? I have a 13 yr old child that shares my computer. This may be happening in a usenet group. Can you tell me the laws on stalking and harassment on the internet.

Thank you

Re: Internet Stalking question

You need to pay very close attention to your child's use of the internet, and frankly, allowing him/her to use newsgroups is simply NOT a good idea.

That being said, you have a heavy burden to prove that someone has installed stuff on your computer without your consent. I doubt you could prove it was stalking or harassment without serious forensic work, provided you can find a covert application on your system. There are programs that search out spyware, lot's of places to get information on the internet.

Your best bet is to wipe your hard-drive, re-install your own software and install firewalls. Limit what your child can do on the computer and absolutely prohibit the child from downloading ANYTHING.
