It It Discrimination?

My employer has a leadership program available to women only. This program is designed to enhance to develop leadership traits and thus help with promotions within the company. Is this legal?

It depends. At first blush it seems that on it's face it is prejudicial but a few questions need to be answered.

Are you in an industry that has always been closed to women?

Is there a glass ceiling situation which the company is trying to remedy?

Is there a consent order to increase opportunities for women that your company is honoring?

The best thing to do is to see an employment attorney in your home area and let them help you determine whether you would have a case or not.
