As with so many legal questions, the answer is, "it depends". Your question cannot be answered without an examination of the contract that you signed. You need to consult in person with an attorney who specializes in contract law.

In the Hartford area, the Lawyer Referral Service (check the Hartford white pages for telephone number)can arrange for you to have a 30-minute consultation for $25.00. In the New Haven area, the New Haven Bar Association operates a similar referral service.

Remember: If you do consult an attorney, you MUST bring a COMPLETE copy of the contract with you -- without it, you will only be wasting your time and the attorney's time.
