civil summons of subpoena

what is this and what does it mean? Will i have to go to court?

A Subpoena requires you to physically appear in court. If you fail to do so, you are subject to arrest and incarceration.

A Summons requires you to file a written answer to a complaint and send it to the court and to the complaining party's lawyer, within 20 days. Failure to file an answer will result in the court entering a judgment against you for monetary damages.
