Re: Company that owes me money was bought out.

The answer depends on whether the new company bought the assets of the old company or bought the company or merged with the company. An asset sale leaves the "old company" as a legal entity which owes you the money. A merger or a purchas of ownership means the new company may be directly or indirectly liable.

If the companies were incorporated, you may be able to tell exactly what happened by looking at the Secretary of State's website under corporate records. That may tell you who you can try to collect from.
