Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky

(Continued) marriage with a 16 year old.

Ok you said that ''If a 16-year old girl is pregnant, she can, without the cooperation of her parents, petition the District Court in the Kentucky county of her residence for permission to marry the father of the child.'' Can the court deny them being together if this happens? If so what would happen?

Re: (Continued) marriage with a 16 year old.

Kentucky law gives the District Court "discretion" to allow a pregnant 16 or 17 year old to marry. If the Judge refuses, nothing prohibits the parties from seeking permission from a different District Court Judge. If no Judge will grant permission to marry, the parties must wait until both are 18, or they receive parental consent.
