Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Kentucky

fired for 'no reason'

I was recently fired from my job because i found out that my friend had died. I asked the manager if i could leave for a moment. She said yes. I came back 20 minutes later and i had been fired by the owner. I asked why, and they said i walked out. Totally untrue, i asked, she said yes, i left. She admits to letting me go, but the owner doesn't think that matters. Is there anything i can do about this?

Do you have any kind of employment agreement? In any case, I assume that you had an implied agreement that if you performed your job well, that you could rely on continued employment until you could no longer perform, if you wanted that. Your boss has overstepped this agreement. Contact the State office of Fair Employment (whatever its called in Kentucky). File a complaint and see what happens. You may need to retain an attorney to shepard you through the necessary steps. Good Luck!!!
