Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

''Children of unmarried couples''

I am pregnant with a child from a man that chose to break off our engagement because I wouldn't have an abortion. Now he wants me to give the baby up for adoption. I want to know what I can do legally to keep him from having anything to do with the baby. He says if I have it he wants rights. Is there an agreement I can have him sign to give up rights if he agrees? Will this keep his family from seeing the baby as well?

There are basically two routes you may try to take. First, you could file a custody action and try to get sole custody. However, in that situation, the father would likely get some visitation with the child.

The second option would be to try to have the father's parental rights terminated. That is very hard to do unless you can show the father is a serious danger to the child.
