divorce in kentucky/Ohio advice needed

I dont know much about how divorces work.Husband & I married June19th 05,seperated dec.2nd 06 he moved to Ohio(and has own place there,so told),I remain at current address. Home has both names on deed. Was aquired b4 marriage.Have 1 child age 5. born b4 marriage father has not done paternity nor is not on birth cert. was told by lawyer he has no legal rights to him until this is done.i will be the one filing for divorce. he says file uncontested but with not much communication or discussion over things i find this is going to be quiote impossible to do. He wants to have paternity done as well, but claims this is impossible for him to aquire in Ohio.Is this true? Where do i start. is possible to do uncontested what is needed in papers. what if he does not sign? who does property go to, if he has not been paying the mortgage?can child issues be done after divorce or have to be done together. i am so confused. Thanks for any help you can provide

Wow - there are so many possible ways things could go with what you have described that a short book would probably not cover it all. If you must do this divorce without the aid of a lawyer, go to http://www.lrc.ky.gov/krs/titles.htm and start reading everything in Chapter 403.

There really is not simple answer to any of your questions except that you can request that the divorce be "bifurcated" from custody and property issues - but requesting it does not mean a judge will do it.

Most county clerk's have forms that a person filing for divorce without an attorney can use to simplify matters. If your husband really is not going to contest things, then you should be able to do this. If he does contest things, you might need to find a lawyer.
