Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

ICPC Adoption Question???

We are in Kentucky. Our birthmom is too at the moment, but is a resident in another state. She has been here for a couple of months and will be delivering here in our state. Will we still have to deal with ICPC?

Re: ICPC Adoption Question???

I am assuming this is a private adoption with no child placing agency involved. If the child is born here in Kentucky and the birth mom signs the consent that is valid in Kentucky and you obtain temporary custody of the baby here, the the ICPC will not be an issue. The ICPC would only be an issue if the baby left the state of Kentucky before any court processes were initiated.
