Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Kentucky

I have taken a number of photos at the Chicago Art Institute of famous work of art (only in areas allowed) for example ..photos of VAN GOUGH'S... my question is am I able to reproduce these works of at from my digital photographs on canvas and sell them?

Assuming that they are in the public domain, there may not be a copyright problem with reproducing works for commercial purposes. However, there may be a contractual limitation in the license that the Chicago Art Institute grants to its visiting patrons that they are not permitted to photograph or sell copies of the reproduced images.
