Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Kentucky

I'm 16 and about to be 17 next month. When I was 11 I was hospitalized and had a battery of tests run. After that I had had surgery on my abdomen to remove a cystic teratoma from my right ovary. I have problems with my hip/leg area(the right side) so I went to the doctors and was made to go through more tests. It turns out that a huge portion of my right femur was hollow. I also gave my doctor my past medical records and he reviewed them. Then he told me that my leg had been like that since the tests when I was 11. Could I sue the hospital for not telling me about it and not taking care of it when I was 11?

You appear to be a very intelligent, articulate young woman. How refreshing!

Your statute of limitations does not start to run until you are 18, then you have one year to file. If you were already an adult, it would have started running at the time you discovered, or should have discovered, the malpractice. If you believe you have a case for malpractice, get a consultation with an attorney who does med mal. I wouldn't be able to tell you just from these facts if you have a case, without reviewing your records. Consultations are generally free for these types of cases, just ask when you call to make an appointment. I see you are in the Ashland area. I recommend starting with Mr. Dill in Ashland. Good luck.
