Legal Question in Personal Injury in Kentucky

personal injury settlement recovery from my attorney

yes, I was wanting to know how long my attorney can legally hold my personal injury settlement money? It was paid due to an automobile accident and injury. He recieved the check from the insurance company in November 08 and has only gave me small portions of it and only at my request. When can I force him to give me all of my reward?

Re: personal injury settlement recovery from my attorney

If he's holding it for the benefit of third party lienholders (ie: medical providers whom you promised payment too), then he is obligated to retain it and pay the lienholders. Demand an in person meeting and settlement ledger showing all liens, attorney fees, expenses and a final disbursement. Short of that, file with the KBA's fee dispute service and force a response. Best of luck.
