Anyone can initiate a lawsuit against you for pretty much any reason. What matters is your ability to defend the case, having the facts and law on your side.

I'm assuming the dog bit the girl? Whether you have liability depends on a variety of factors. For instance, "came into your yard." Does that mean left the sidewalk and went onto your grass in the front yard where your dog was tied up? Or does that mean scaled your privacy fence with the locked gate and ignored the No Trespassing Beware of Dog sign? The age of the child matters too, as well as whether the dog has ever acted aggressively. The breed of dog matters, certainly. Are we talking nipped by a wiener dog, or mauled by a Rottweiler? All of these things weigh in to whether you have liability, and what the damages would be.

Good news is, so long as you have homeowners insurance/renter's insurance, it will likely indemnify you and pay for your defense costs.
