Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kentucky

I have been informed I was left a house sitting on a sizable lot when my grandmother passed away. Come to find out, the executor of the will went to a judge after so much time had passed and said they were unable to find me and then the judge broke the will and allowed this person to sell the house. The property was undersold due to market for a quicker cash out. Is there now anything I can legally do? This person knew all information that I would think would be needed to find me including full name, birthdate and social as well as knew I was in the military serving in the Navy and even knew some past duty stations. I live in Illinois and the property was in Kentucky.

It is not possible to give you a clear legal answer to your inquiry without a more detailed evaluation of the facts of your case. From what you describe, you may be protected under the provisions of the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act. You need to move quickly, and file an appearance in the Probate case at once.

You should not take any action, based upon my advice, without consulting an attorney and explaining all the facts to him. You are best advised to seek the services of a competent Kentucky attorney. You can telephone your local bar association for a referral, or can find a good lawyer on-line at the Kentucky Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service:
