Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Louisiana

Bankruptcy & lawsuit against me

I currently have a lawsuit pending in court against me. The person filing is my ex-fiancee and he is stating that I broke the contract to be married and is entitled to money for his work put into the house in my name. He has unlimited legal rep from a friend and I fear I can't last too long with my attorney fees. If I file bankruptcy does that eliminate the debt possible owed by the lawsuit. The amount he is requesting is more than 3 times my annual salary.

Re: Bankruptcy & lawsuit against me

I am not sure I understand the claim of your ex-fiance. I do not know whether it would qualify as a debt that is not dischargeable.

You should probably sit down with a bankruptcy attorney and discuss your entire situation.
