Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Louisiana

chapter 13

I live in La. and I have been in my chapter 13 for about 2 years. I may be getting a promotion which wolud lead me to East Texas (1.5 hrs away). I believe that it is not in the same district my trustee resides over. Is there anything in the law that could keep me from being able to move and keep my chapter 13 going? What are the steps I need to take?

Re: chapter 13

Dear Friend,

No, you can keep your Chapter 13 proceeding going, even though you should change your residence. Good luck! East Texas is a great place to live. I grew up in the Oilfield in Gregg County, until age 12; and then when I was 12, I moved to the deep East Texas Piney Woods in Nacogdoches County and went to high school in Nacogdoches. Had a great childhood! Good luck!

Sincerely,
