business closing
My husband recently passed away. He had a small paint contracting business. I would like to know what responsibility I have for the business, can I sell it, or close it? and do I need an attorney? If so, can you suggest one, or tell me what area of law I need to look for one? Thanks
Re: business closing
Assuming the business is a community asset, then its liabilities are community as well. That means you own 1/2 of the business and owe 1/2 of the bills if any. If there are children, they will be owners of your late husband's 1/2 but you get the use of that 1/2. You need an attorney. If you are in the Lake Charles area, I would be happy to speak with you.
