Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

Probation

My probation was revoked in 1995 I served 7 years hard time in unrelated cases that were sentenced later. When released they put me on 5 years probation for probation revoked in 1995. Is it a law that says when you begin serving probation time once its revoked. Can it be 7 years later?

Re: Probation

Dear Friend,

What you say here does not sound right. Nevertheless, to give you a better answer, I would have to know the exact sentence you received on each charge. I have never heard of a person's probation having been revoked, and he made to serve the sentence he was formerly on probation for, and then, after his having actually served that prison time, having been again placed on probation. Is there a chance that you were relesed on "parole" and that that is what you are referring to as probation? There is a difference between parole and probation. That is the best answer I can give you based on the limited amount of information given in your question. Best of luck to you! If you want to know more, e-mail me at [email protected].

Sincerely,
