Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

Collecting Judgment

There was a judgment entered against my brother. I have heard rumors that the compnay who has the judgment against him is thinking about changing the name of the company. If they do this is the judgment still good?

Re: Collecting Judgment

Yes the judgment is still good. This is actually quite common among large creditors. For example, the creditors name on a collection suit might read something like "Discover Bank f/k/a Greenwood Trust Company." There should be paperwork in the creditor's state of incorporation (which is probably Delaware) indicating the name change and the date it went into effect.
