Earlier today I was caught in a magazine scam. I am canceling the check I wrote and attempting to cancel any subscription within the 3 day period on the reciept , but want to know if the magazine company can sue me for non payment or if the check doesn't clear.

Keep your receipts and proof of when you canceled the check, etc., to prove your position that you canceled timely, according to the terms of the contract. If they sue or try to place something on your credit record, you have proof that you do not owe them.
