Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

I was told by a magazine company asking if i was satisfied with the magazines i ordered, then they said they were lowering my monthly payments. They tricked me into verbally agreeing to a new subscription. Do I have to pay the cancellation fees? Do I have to pay the collection agency?

No. A contract requires mutual understanding, or what is commonly called a meeting of the minds. There are many unscrupulous magazine subscription companies out there scamming people for money and it appears this is what happened to you. You should report them to the Louisiana State Attorney General's Office (the Consumer Protection Division) and cancel any payments you made to them with your credit card company. You will likely find with your credit card company that they have an entire division dedicated to fraudulent magazine subscriptions. That is how rampant the problem has become.
