Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

When I was 17 I got stopped in a car with an ex boyfriend. we got charged with simple possesion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. I went infront the judge and since it was my first legal incident they told me if i completed a drug diversion program and did not get arrested 6 months after the charges would be dropped. I successfully completed the program, and have never been arrested since. My question is, are the charges still on my record? I'm appling for a radiology program and they ask if you've ever been charged or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, so should I say yes and explain, or put no since i completed the diversion program? PLease help me out....

If the charges were "dropped" (i.e., the state declined to press charges), the arrest record is still there. If the charge was "expunged", the arrest and the charge will not appear in a background check and they are essentially gone from everyone's view except the Court.

Even if the charge was not expunged back then, you can move the Court now to expunge the charge and arrest record.
