Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Accessary??

My husband just informed me of an illegal act his ex-wife committed. That act was then used to commit another illegal act. How liable am I for knowing this information? How liable is he? Neither one of us would like to end up in jail for any of this. Because of my stepdaughter, I do not know what to do.

Thanks.

Re: Accessary??

There are many illegal acts. If you are riding with someone who is speeding do you turn them in? Look carefully at the motivation for why you want to turn the x-wife in for something illegal. If you only "know" of it, could you "prove" it in a court of law. Accusing someone of committing a crime is "slander per se" unless it is true. So, if you KNOW it to be true, then you need to speak with your local prosecutor for guidance.
