Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Amending a sentence

I am serving a 5 year sentence for forgery to obtain CDS and was wondering what steps you take to apply for an amended sentence. My judge has approved it in the past for someone I know.

Re: Amending a sentence

Dear LawGuru Friend,

My suggestion is that you just talk with the judge and tell him what you would desire and ask him if he will go along with it if the D.A. has no objection. Most judges are afraid of making the D.A. mad, but they will almost always do whatever the D.A. has no objection to. Then you talk to the D.A. Get some polticians to put a good word in for you with both the judge and the D.A. Remember that nobody has more stroke around the courthouse than the Pentecostal preacher. If you are not Pentecostal, then show some interest in the Pentecostal pracher and the Pentecostal church. Have your family members and friends to visit and/or talk to the Pentecostal preacher and give some of your "offerings" to the Pentecostal preacher for the Pentecostal church. The BIBLE says, "Give and ye shall receive!" What you need is a little Louisiana "justice". Sometimes it takes a little green grease to oil the wheels of justice. Good luck!

Sincerely,
