Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
I was charged with discharging a firearm in city limit was not toward anybody I shot into the ground cops showed up put me in cuffs gave me a summouns and marked it as a misdemeanor this is my first offense please tell me what am I looking at as far as being charged with ? There no jail time I hope right

It is a misdemeanor. Jail time is usually suspended with the condition that a fine, cost and probation fees be paid. The best thong to do is plead guilty at the arraignment explaining that it was a stupid mistake but it was fired into ground and will not make same mistake again. Sometimes there are pre-trial diversion programs which would allow you to serve a probationary period without being found guilty. It is a way to keep your record clean. Make anappointment and talk to prosecutor to see if the program is available.
