Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

need help

I was on probation at the time of my crime it was simple burglary of a dwelling nothing was taken. I was arrest once in alabama and once in florida for have a warrant for this same crime but the state failed to come and get me. I have new been in jail or court for this crime. I have made my location known to this state an still nothing. How long do the have to try me for the crime. It has been over 20 year since this crime was committed.I did not fight going back to this state when I was arrested in florida and alabama I waited a month each time the the judge from those states released me. What can I do?

Fronm what you write, it appears that the statute of limitations should have run on this charge, if you were arrested 20 years ago. I suggest you contact an attorney in the city where the charges are pending for more specfic advice on your situation.
