Legal Question in DUI Law in Louisiana

Credit for time served?

My son has pleaded guilty in multiple charges. He has been incarcerated in the parish (LA) jail since 05/15/2007. On 3 of his charges, he has been sentenced to total 12yrs in the Dept of Corrections, with suspended all but 3yrs. On 5 lesser charges, he's been sentenced to total of 15 months, to run concurrent, credit for time served. My question is: Will he actually spend time in the State Prison, or will time served in the parish jail count toward his sentence?

Re: Credit for time served?

Mr. Pizzolatto is correct, however he should get credit for any time served in the parish jail.

Re: Credit for time served?

He may stay in the parish jail or may be moved to state prison. It is usually up to the local sheriff if he wants to keep him.
