Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Child Support

I am divorced with one child. I have joint custody with my ex-wife. I pay her child support, 1/2 of day care and I cover him under my medical insurance. I am planning to get remarried - can my ex petition to have the child support increased because of my new spouses added income. If so are there any ways around this ie separate bank account, etc...

Re: Child Support

Your new spouse's income cannot be "protected" from consideration in child support matters. However, her entire income is NOT computed into the equation. I have NEVER seen child support increased solely because of a spouse's income. If you are paying the statutory amount, there is little chance that the support will increase.
