Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My first cousin is having a baby. I want to adopt the baby. she will give up her rights. my cousin lives in LA and I live in FL. the baby is not born yet. Is the process easy for this type of adoptions? do we just need to file papers with the court in LA?

Don't forget the father, he has a say so in all this. No adoption is "just filing the papers." My suggestion is you have your cousin move in with you and have the child in Florida. The State will get involved to make sure your home is suitable to take the child. If you want to have her have the child in Louisiana, there is something called the interstate compact where the sending State, Louisiana, contacts the receiving State, Florida, and they do paperwork so that both states are satisfied this is in the child's best interest. It is a pain but it is the law.
