Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

daugher's last name

My ex-boyfriend and I have a daughter. I gave her my last name when she was born. Now he's protesting that he wants her to have his name. He pays child support , but I raise her and she lives with me 3 hours away from him. He sees her maybe twice a month and is about to leave to go into the navy.

Re: daugher's last name

He would have to file a formal request in court for the name change. Then he would have to prove your consent to change your baby's name was not required and he could not prove that. The name on the birth certificate cannot be changed without a court order. Don't worry.
