Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Mortgage reimbursement claim

I have been trying to get a property settlement since August 1998. My ex is fighting me over the house. I originally had a mortgage reimbursement claim which was signed by my ex and his lawyer, but my lawyer failed to file this document in court. My ex did not have a rental claim on the house. Now, I am being told that he will not owe me half of all the notes I have paid on the house, yet I will have to pay him rent. Is this true?

Re: Mortgage reimbursement claim

Why hasn't the agreement signed by your husband been filed? Without seeing the record, I cannot tell you whether you will have to pay rent, but it is standard that you will get your half of the mortgage paid unless you are keeping the house. You can't keep the house and have him pay you for lowering the mortgage principal.
