Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

parental kidnapping

My ex moved to Tx where I was able to see my son for the Christmas holidays and communicate with him on a regular basis until Feb 06'. I haven't talked to her or my son since the end of Feb beginning of March. Without informing me, (I found out through my son on the last occassion we spoke), she moved back to La and has disconnected her phones making it impossible for me to locate her and my son. We have a court ordered visitation schedule and we share coustody with her being the coustodial parent. Is this parental kidnapping and if so what can I do? How do I start the process, if any, without an attorney? Can I do anything from CT while she is in LA? How can I go about locating her? If you have any other useful info, please fell free to include! Thank you for any info you CAN PROVIDE!!

Re: parental kidnapping

It is NOT kidnapping but IS a violation of a court order of visitation. As such, you could/should file for full custody in CT.

However, I would suggest using an attorney since she is out of state. The atty can help you locate and must apply to the court for service of process by publication.
