termination of parental rights
My ex husband who has not had contact with my children since 12/06 and has not paid child support since then has suggested that he was going to have his parental rights terminated. Is it possible for the father to terminate his own rights? Or does that have to be done at the request of the custodial parent (me)? And if he can terminate his rights...does he still have to pay child support?

He cannot terminate his rights. And, it is doubtful that you can terminate his rights unless it is so the children can be adopted.

The state will make a father pay child support until another responsible man takes his place. So don't worry about that sillyness and contact the state to get help collecting from this deadbeat.

If this were true all the deadbeat non-custodial parents would simply terminate themselves.
I suggest that if you don't want to terminate his rights & obligations contact support enforcement so they might be able to collect for you.
