Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

visitation rights for seperated father of a newborn

I am a 31 yr old woman that recently had my first child. I have been seperated since I was 3 months pregnant. My soon to be ex (divorce in dec) just before the birth and since then has been emotionally threatening in emails saying such things as ''Have her ready when I get there.'' and custody papers have yet to be filed. I have all the emails. What are the visitation rights for him meaning lengths of time (hrs? days?) She is currently just shy of being 2 months old.

Re: visitation rights for seperated father of a newborn

He is the father, technically speaking he can have the child as much as he wants. You need to file for domiciliary status and to set a visitation schedule. Right now he has as much right to the child as you do.
