Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

car burglarized at an entertainment bldg

My car was burglarized at a nightclub. It was parked in the rear parking lot of the club. the club is fenced in,however it is poorly lit. there is no security or security devices located in this part of the parking lot.there are no signs posted stating that the club is not liable for theft or stolen property. Is the club liable, and if so, What steps should I take in pursuing a settlement for replacement of goods stolen?

Re: car burglarized at an entertainment bldg

Make sure the parking lot is owned or leased by the club first before doing anything else. If so, it may be that they have no responsibility to protect your car and contents. If the area is high crime, and/or if there had been a number of similar crimes at the club in the past, then your chances are better.
