Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana

Car Wreck

Hi,

I borrowed a friends car whos mother is the owner of the car. I side swiped the bottom of the car door with a pole. The bottom line is she does not want to go through the insurance. She wants me to pay her out of pocket. I know I am responsible but she refuses to use the insurance and thats the only way I can pay her. What are my pro and cons here? If it goes to court can the judge make me pay out of pocket. This woman has went to my parents behind my back trying to get money from them on my behalf. She faxed no estimates to me. The car went to Bohn Ford quoted me 2200, then 2500 and now she's saying something is wrong with a frame. I damaged the bottom part of the door. Her daughter who nis under twenty five is not on the insurance at all and she says she will have to add her if she goes through the insurance. The daughter is the primarry driver.

Re: Car Wreck

Even if she goes through her insurance, there is a deductible. I believe you are an insured for that one time you drove the car, so, contact the insurance company and tell them about the accident.

Re: Car Wreck

I agree that you should contact the insurance company and agree to pay the deductable.

Additionally, anybody who wants you to pay but will not show the estimate should not be trusted to be completely truthful.
