Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I have worked for the government for 10 years. I work for department of homeland security as a transportation security officer(tsa). I have worked the 1 st shift for as long as I've worked there. I was told that on October 21,2012 I have to go to second shift causing me to lose $450 in differential pay. I can not financially afford this to happen. I have 4 kids to support and if this happens I will lose my house and not have groceries. What are my rights. I can not quit. They are unwilling to work with me. What can I do.
