Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Louisiana

I am in the process of getting a dog as prescribed for emotional support reasons, but I the property I live in is privately owned. The fair housing act states that there are exceptions to the rule in that,

The exceptions include (a) buildings with four or fewer units where the landlord lives in one of the units, and (b) private owners who do not own more than three single family houses, do not use real estate brokers or agents, and do not use discriminatory advertisements.

I live in a townhome, but they did use a real estate agent to rent the property and I used one to find it. Will I still qualify for this medical exception or am I exempt because of the stated exemptions.

Be up front with your landlord and ask if you can have the dog because its medically necessary.
