Dear LawGuru Friend,

If you father dies and you accept his

estate, you accept his bills along with

his estate. How ones goes about "accepting

an estate" depends on how one takes over

once his parent dies. Assuming that your

father may owe more bills than he leaves

value in his estate, you should proceed with

caution following his death so as not to

"accept" his estate and his bills with it.

There is more to it all than this, but this is

something to consider. Feel free to e-mail

me your name and address, and I will call

you and discuss this further with you...

all at no charge.

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson, J.D.
