Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

i got into a car accident this morning. i was driving toward an intersection and checked to make sure the light was green two or three times, as i approached the redlight i saw a car going real slow in the intersection " i was goin north, and he was going west". i but on my breaks and swerved a little to my left to try to avoid from hitting him, but i ended up hitting him. when the cop arrived he told the cop that he had a green light and i had a redlight, which was totally a lie because i know i had a green light and he knew he had messed up because he was going so slow. well then he starts limping acting like his leg was hurt and said he cut his hand. i took pictures and i hit him in the drivers side on the very front of his truck, theres no way he could have cut his hand unless he was holding somethin sharp. but my question is, who do you think will be at fault? the cop didnt give neither one of us a ticket or anything and said the insurance companies will have to battle it out. since i had the right away could he still lie and get away with no fault and sue me?

Most lawsuits come down to exactly what you are describing--two competing stories from two witnesses.
