Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

child drowning

MY child drowned aug3 1999.it was a merky pool,with no supervision.He could swim I still don'tknow what happen.there wasno police report,the ambulance went to the wrong house.i have a lawyer he says he can't find the police who jumped in and couldn't find my son.he said we will have to sue.my question is what are my rights and how long do i have to wait.no offers were made.my sons hospital bills are still coming in.I can't work because of this.i have a husband and two boys .

You have only one year in which to bring this action and it would make the action appear much more serious if you would bring it far in advance of that time. There are many possible defendants in such an action, but we really would need to discuss this with you further to know what your rights might be. This action should be moving along much more quickly though.
