Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

I live in louisiana and have decided to settle a personal injury claim for a small amount offered by the insurance co. just to get it done with. I received some release of claim forms, including one form I'm supposed to sign in front of a notary, via email from the independent adjuster handling the claim. The adjuster requested that I print the forms, sign them and email them back and also send the hard copies signed to the adjusters office. My question is, it is wise to sign and return the release forms without having seen a check for the amount agreed to or been told even when I might receive the check? Please advise.

You should not sign a release without the check in hand. You will most likely receive more money if you retain an attorney to represent you.
