Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

I live in a subdivision in Slidell,LA. Behind me is zoned Commercial. There is a business (Kaotic Audio) that installs car Audio: those big sub woofers and amplifiers that make a loud thumping sound and vibrate my window panes, things in my cabinets and things on shelves. Not to mention driving me insane. I have contacted the Mayor, city council, police, permits dept, city attorney, and home owners association. Everyone tells me I have no rights, there is nothing I can do. Is this true? It is a metal building with huge bay doors, no insulation. So no it is not sound proofed. Please help me....not sure type of Law. And Thank you in advance for all of your assistance in this matter!

You can sue them under a theory of nuisance. Your chances of success are, in my opinion, not horrible but not great. While they are in a commercial zone, they back up to a residential zone and constant noise is certainly a nuisance. You would have to have documentation of the nuisance and I would include video and (of course) audio recordings of the problem, including a showing of the damage being done (shaking cabinets, etc.) and the frequency of occurrences.

Before you run to court, I would first try talking to the owner of the business and/or sending him a NICE letter asking if there is anything that can be done (such as insolation of the building). You can also try calling one of those action reporters from TV. They may be interested in the story.
